They've got to be kidding
I thought there had to be a catch.
I just found a site called bid4prizes.com. It's got a great gimmick! You enter the lowest ORIGINAL bid and that bid wins the product. Sounds like a trick, no? So I scrutinized it.
First, you have to log in. Surprise! It's FREE!. You can get a premium account for about ten bucks that lets you vote more often and via mobile phone, but the standard one with ads is a freebie. I'd go for that, so I joined.
Then I watched a short video on how the whole thing works. Basically you make a bid in cents and keep bidding until the end of the auction--but the catch is you have to have the lowest UNIQUE bid--nobody else can have bid the same amount. If that happens the new lowest unique bid becomes a penny over the last. When the auction time limit is up (usually a few days or weeks) you don't even have to pay what you bid! They give it to you free!
So I went to the lowest bid website and bid on a $500 Starbucks gift card. Both my daughters work at Starbucks so I spend a LOT of money there! Maybe it will bring me luck.
I have to be honest, I'm sure this website makes money somehow, but I don't know how and I really don't care. Bidding there is MUCH more fun than traditional auction sites! And who knows, maybe I'll get a free latte.
Or a hundred free latte's!
